Durres is the most ancient town of the country. The city was colonised by the Greeks in 627 BC. There has always been a port in Durres. It has become the biggest sea-port of Albania.
Durres City: the Castle, 2nd Century AD Amphitheatre, Archaeological Museum, many mosaics, ancient public baths, etc. The long sandy beach is amongst the largest along the Adriatic coastline.
